Question:

I have 2 children ages 15 and 16 who are employed at a restaurant doing dishes. We live in the State of WI. What rate of pay are they suppose to be paid? They both started working at the restaurant in Oct. 2007. They are currently getting paid $6.00 an hour. Is this the correct rate of pay?

Answer Paywizard:

Effective June 2007, the minimum wage in the State of Wisconsin is $6.50 for adults but $5.90 for minors (under 18 years of age), so $6.00/hour would be considered above the minimum for your children. This information can be found on the state of Wisconsin's website here: http://dwd.wisconsin.gov/dwd/publications/erd/pdf/erd_9247_p.pdf.   .
